Prime Integrator for Comcast tru2way Reference Implementation

NDS is currently working with Comcast as the Prime Integrator for its tru2way software integration project based on the CableLabs Reference Implementation (RI) stack. Under this agreement, the NDS Professional Services Group is leading set-top box (STB) testing, code development and success validation for the integration of new tru2way applications and devices for Comcast. The requirements, deliverables and success criteria were set after a detailed discovery process led by the NDS project team working closely with Comcast.

NDS is responsible for hardening the CableLabs RI OCAP implementation by optimizing the RI stack to enable uniform and reliable porting to tru2way STBs. This will allow Comcast to run the same applications and services across multiple models of STBs, offering a consistent user experience for subscribers and providing the company with the freedom to use a variety of hardware platforms—opening the market to greater innovation and potential CAPEX savings. In addition, NDS has undertaken the development and test of several new features in areas where the CableLabs RI roadmap did not fit with Comcast needs.

As Prime Integrator, NDS is responsible for making sure that STB implementation is consistent, and meets rigid quality standards across all STB vendors using performance benchmarks set by Comcast. In order to achieve this, the NDS Professional Services team will develop a comprehensive test suite including RI testing tools for the tru2way Reference Implementation. It will also support Comcast and its STB vendors in enabling the Reference Implementation on their devices on an on-going basis.
